Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled MedSurg Registered Nurse to join our dynamic healthcare team. Duties
- Conduct thorough patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and medical history documentation using electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner.
- Administer medications and injections accurately while adhering to aseptic techniques and HIPAA regulations.
- Monitor patients’ conditions closely, managing acute pain, airway stability, ventilator support, and other critical needs.
- Perform procedures such as IV insertions, suturing, catheterizations, tube feedings, and specimen collection with precision.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans aligned with hospital standards and NCQA guidelines.
- Educate patients and families on treatment plans, medication administration, discharge instructions, and health coaching strategies.
- Maintain meticulous medical documentation including ICD coding (ICD-10/ICD-9), nursing notes, and case management records.
- Ensure infection control protocols are followed rigorously to prevent healthcare-associated infections.
- Assist in triage assessments in emergency or urgent care settings for timely intervention.
- Support special care units such as ICU, PICU, memory care, hospice & palliative medicine, or behavioral health as required.
Experience
- Proven experience in medical-surgical nursing within hospital environments is essential; ICU or Level I/II trauma center experience is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated proficiency with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner for documentation and order entry.
- Prior experience working with diverse patient populations including geriatrics, pediatrics, neonatal ventilator management, or individuals with developmental disabilities enhances your candidacy.
- Knowledge of critical care procedures including cardiac catheterization support, trauma medicine protocols, infectious disease care, and acute pain management is preferred.
- Familiarity with laboratory processes such as specimen processing and phlebotomy is advantageous.
- Experience in home & community care settings or outpatient clinics broadens your clinical versatility.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) required; additional certifications such as ACLS or PALS are beneficial.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy knowledge, physiology principles, and CPT coding practices supports effective patient care delivery.
