Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Travel Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in psychiatric care to join our dynamic healthcare team. Key responsibilities include delivering specialized mental health care, conducting comprehensive patient assessments, administering medications and treatments, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to develop individualized care plans. You will utilize advanced electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic and Cerner to document patient progress accurately. Your expertise in areas such as trauma medicine, behavioral health, memory care, and working with individuals with developmental disabilities will be instrumental in supporting our diverse patient population.

Responsibilities
- Provide specialized psychiatric nursing care within inpatient or outpatient settings, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and best practices.
- Conduct thorough patient assessments, including vital signs, mental status examinations, and physiological evaluations.
- Administer medications such as psychotropics, IV infusions, botulinum toxin treatments, and manage complex medication regimens.
- Utilize EMR/EHR systems like Epic and Cerner for accurate documentation of patient care activities.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized treatment plans addressing behavioral health needs.
- Perform procedures including suturing, tube feeding management, catheterization, phlebotomy, and sterile technique application.
- Support patients experiencing acute pain or trauma by implementing appropriate pain management strategies.
- Assist with discharge planning, case management, and coordination of post-acute or community-based care services.
- Maintain infection control standards and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations for patient confidentiality.
- Work effectively with diverse populations including pediatrics, geriatrics, individuals with disabilities or developmental challenges.
Experience
Candidates should possess a comprehensive clinical background that includes:
- Critical care experience in ICU or emergency medicine environments.
- Psychiatric or behavioral health nursing experience within hospital or outpatient settings.
- Familiarity with trauma medicine, Level I/II trauma center protocols, and acute care procedures.
- Proficiency in EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner; experience with ICD coding (ICD-9/10) is preferred.
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or memory care needs.
- Knowledge of infection control practices and aseptic techniques applicable to psychiatric nursing.
- Demonstrated ability to perform complex procedures including IV insertions, ventilator management, and diagnostic evaluations.
- Strong understanding of pharmacology related to psychotropic medications and pain management strategies.
- Ability to adapt quickly within fast-paced environments such as urgent care or hospital medicine units.
- Prior experience working in long-term care facilities or assisted living environments is advantageous.
