Join our dynamic non-profit team as a Trail Crew Member and play a vital role in maintaining and restoring scenic outdoor spaces. You will be actively involved in building and repairing trails, managing vegetation, and supporting sustainable land use practices to ensure safe, accessible, and environmentally responsible outdoor experiences for all visitors.
Responsibilities
- Construct, repair, and maintain hiking trails using hand tools and power tools to ensure safety and sustainability.
- Perform landscape maintenance tasks such as clearing brush, trimming trees, and managing vegetation along trail corridors.
- Assist with ecological restoration efforts by collecting data, planting native species, and implementing erosion control measures.
- Operate GPS devices
- Use heavy lifting techniques to move materials and equipment safely during trail projects.
- Conduct routine inspections of trail conditions, report hazards, and perform necessary repairs or adjustments.
- Support tree care activities including trimming, pruning, and health assessments to promote healthy ecosystems.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed, data collected, and materials used for project documentation.
- Safely operate various hand tools, power tools, and commercial driving equipment as required for trail construction and maintenance tasks.
Qualifications
- Prior experience or training in landscape maintenance or landscaping is preferred but not required.
- Knowledge of GPS navigation, or ecological restoration practices is advantageous.
- Ability to perform physical tasks including heavy lifting, long hours outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Familiarity with tree care techniques such as trimming and pruning is desirable.
- Experience with construction projects involving trail building or land development is beneficial.
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and safety procedures related to outdoor work environments.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record for operating commercial vehicles required.
The employee must be able to perform strenuous outdoor labor, including but not limited to: hiking several miles per day, lifting and carrying materials up to 50 pounds, operating hand and power tools, bending, kneeling, and working in extreme weather conditions (heat, cold, rain).
Typical work hours are 6am-2pm
Pay: From $18.00 per hour
