PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY:
The Account Representative is responsible for executing the delivery of value-added support on behalf of Iowa Pathology Associates and the UnityPoint Health outreach laboratory (Path Labs). This support may be unique to each client’s needs and as described during the sales process. The Account Representative identifies and develops new business opportunities within the market. This role builds relationships with physicians, nurses, practice administrators, hospital administrators, office managers, nursing home staff, and other healthcare professionals. The main goal is to generate new referral sources and increase profitable revenue.
SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY:
Plays a lead role to ensure client retention by driving the cross-departmental support staff to analyze client concerns and prioritize opportunities to improve delivery of service.
Responsibilities
1. Focuses on identifying and developing new customer relationships and guides clients through onboarding.
2. Responsible for monitoring and maintaining current client satisfaction and communicating opportunities for new growth to leadership.
3. Develops an intensive understanding of each client by establishing long-standing relationships and identifying their key decision-makers.
4. Proactively addresses client exceptions and routinely assesses client needs through on-site visits, by telephone and by written and electronic correspondence.
5. Responds and by written and electronic correspondence.
6. Communicates with members of the laboratory management team concerning physician issues and testing needs. Uses critical thinking skills to resolve problems.
7. Coordinates the deployment of other support staff, subject matter experts, or resources to the client as needed.
8. Documents all client interactions and communications for easy reference, retention, and sharing of information.
9. Evaluates and determines client training needs.
10. Provides client educational sessions as necessary (example: computer system or website features, infectious handling training, etc.)
11. Notifies clients of new test information, pricing, and any changes to logistics, policies, or procedures.
12. Remains current in regulatory and reimbursement guidelines.
13. Supplies time records/mileage/daily log of client visits and topics on monthly basis.
14. Complies with laboratory and hospital safety procedures.
SKILLS REQUIREMENTS:
1. Knowledge/Education: Bachelor’s degree in medical technology or sciences.
2. Prior Experience: Five (5) years’ hospital clinical laboratory experience is required.
3. Licensure/Registration/Certification: MLS, ASCP, or equivalent.
4. Special Skills: Laboratory outreach experience desired.
5. Other: Must possess strong decision making and problem-solving skills.
INTERPERSONAL REQUIREMENTS:
1. Must possess good human relation skills and be able to communicate effectively both orally and in written form.
2. Must be able to work independently as well as in a team environment.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
1. Performs physical duties that may include standing for more than 50 percent of the time.
2. Lifting to 25-50 pounds on occasions.
OTHER JOB REQUIREMENTS:
1. Possess a valid driver’s license and a good driving record.
2. Travel required.

Pay: $80,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
