Position Overview: Tnemec Company is seeking a highly organized and initiative-taking individual to join our traffic department. The individual will play a crucial role in coordinating shipments, optimizing routes, and maximizing the efficiency of our transportation operations. This position involves scheduling our drivers for various distribution tasks, collaborating with carriers, and ensuring timely deliveries to our customers and distribution centers nationwide. The role requires meticulous recordkeeping for FMCSA compliance, managing freight invoices and freight claims, and building effective relationships with stakeholders.
Duties and Responsibilities:

Freight Invoice Audit:
-
Audit and approve accessorial charges and miscellaneous freight invoices.

Review and resolve invoice discrepancies with carriers.

Freight Claims:
-
File freight claims for lost or damaged shipments.
- Resolve claims disputes and denials.
- Apply claims payments and credit memos to carrier invoices.
- Monitor carrier receivables accounts to ensure timely payment.

Documentation and Recordkeeping:
-
Maintain FMCSA recordkeeping requirements for vehicle registrations, insurance, maintenance, and inspections, as well as driver qualification files, hours of service, and the drug and alcohol testing program.

Maintain fuel purchase records and file IFTA quarterly tax returns.
- Maintain carrier certificates of insurance documentation.

Maintain 49CFR, IATA, and IMDG dangerous goods documentation requirements, including employee and driver training, product classifications, and packaging requirements.

Shipment Resolution:
-
Compile LTL carrier reports, notify agencies of shipment delays.

Investigate and resolve problem shipments.
-
Route Planning, Optimization, and Dispatch:
-
Analyze upcoming shipments to identify shipment consolidation and backhaul opportunities.

Collaborate with internal teams to determine scheduled shipment availability and customers’ anticipated delivery dates.

Optimize routes for our company drivers and contracted carriers, considering factors such as delivery schedules, driver hours of service, distances, and vehicle capacity.

Conduct carrier spot rate bids when company drivers or contract carriers are not available.

Dispatch company drivers and contracted carriers, maintaining clear communication to ensure adherence to schedules and resolve any issues or delays promptly.

Utilize fleet management software, transportation management system, and logistical expertise to streamline operations and minimize transportation costs.

Qualifications:

High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Bachelor's degree, or working towards a degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.

Proven experience in logistics, transportation, or dispatching roles, preferably within the manufacturing or distribution industry preferred.

Proficiency in transportation management software and routing optimization tools preferred.

Strong understanding of transportation regulations, route planning principles, and industry best practices preferred.

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
