Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional to join our team. In this role, you will provide essential support and care to individuals with developmental disabilities, ensuring their safety, well-being, and quality of life. You will work closely with clients in various settings, including group homes, assisted living facilities, and within the community. Your commitment to patient care and ability to assist with daily living activities will make a significant impact on the lives of those you serve.
Responsibilities
- Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and meal preparation.
- Provide patient observation and monitoring to ensure the health and safety of individuals in your care.
- Implement care plans tailored to each client's needs and preferences.
- Administer medications as prescribed and maintain accurate records in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Support clients in social interactions and community engagement to promote independence and social skills.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment for clients by performing light housekeeping duties as needed.
- Assist with mobility needs using equipment such as Hoyer lifts when necessary.
- Engage clients in meaningful activities that promote cognitive function, including memory care for those with Alzheimer’s or dementia.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals, family members, and other caregivers to ensure comprehensive support for clients.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in caregiving or direct support roles is preferred, particularly in home health, hospice care, or long-term care settings.
- Familiarity with patient monitoring techniques and vital signs assessment is beneficial.
- Knowledge of first aid and CPR is required; certifications are a plus.
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or autism is highly desirable.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team environment.
- Compassionate demeanor with a genuine desire to help others improve their quality of life.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting as required for client assistance.
