About the Practice
Memphis Family & Cosmetic Dentistry is a modern, growing dental practice located at 845 S Highland St in Memphis, TN. Under the leadership of Dr. Brennan Hansen, we provide a full range of dental services including general dentistry, cosmetic procedures, dental implants, and emergency care. We serve a diverse patient population including a significant number of Spanish-speaking patients, and we are looking for a skilled, motivated Dental Assistant to join our team full-time.
Position Overview
The Dental Assistant plays a critical role in delivering exceptional patient care by supporting the dentist chairside, maintaining a smooth clinical workflow, and ensuring patients feel comfortable and informed throughout their visit. The ideal candidate is dependable, detail-oriented, and able to communicate warmly with patients of diverse backgrounds. Prior dental assisting experience is required. Bilingual English/Spanish candidates are strongly preferred given our patient demographics.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the dentist chairside during a wide range of procedures including examinations, restorations, extractions, implant placement, and cosmetic treatments
- Prepare and maintain treatment rooms, set up trays, position patients, and ensure all instruments and materials are ready prior to each procedure
- Take and process dental radiographs as directed by the supervising dentist
- Sterilize and disinfect instruments and equipment following OSHA and infection control protocols
- Record treatment information, patient histories, and clinical notes accurately in the practice management software (Open Dental)
- Communicate treatment instructions and post-procedure care to patients clearly and compassionately, with bilingual communication strongly preferred for Spanish-speaking patients
- Assist with patient scheduling, chart preparation, and front office support as needed
- Maintain inventory of dental supplies and assist with ordering as directed
- Support a positive, professional, and team-oriented clinic environment
Required Qualifications
- Prior dental assisting experience is required, with hands-on chairside experience in a dental practice
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-volume clinical environment
- Strong understanding of infection control, OSHA standards, and HIPAA compliance
- Excellent chairside manner and patient communication skills
- Proficiency with dental practice management software (Open Dental, Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or similar) or ability to learn quickly
- Reliable, punctual, and professional in appearance and conduct
Preferred Qualifications
- Bilingual English/Spanish strongly preferred due to significant Spanish-speaking patient population
- Experience assisting with dental implant procedures, full-arch cases, or oral surgery
- Tennessee Expanded Functions certification in restorative or prosthetic procedures
- Experience with intraoral scanning (iTero, Medit, or similar)
- DANB Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) credential
Compensation & Benefits
- Competitive hourly pay commensurate with experience
- Full-time schedule, Monday through Saturday (Saturday hours vary)

Pay: $17.00 - $23.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40.0 – 60.0 per week
