Veterinary Receptionist
- Must have excellent communication skills.
- Must be proficient with veterinary medical terminology.
- Must have general knowledge of veterinary medicine.
- Previous experience in a veterinary clinic setting is required.
- Maintain a clean and professional appearance at all times. The receptionists are the first point of contact when greeting clients, vendors and members of the public.
- Answer and direct incoming phone calls and email inquiries in a timely manner.
- Schedule appointments, surgeries and urgent care.
- Must be empathetic and show compassion.
- Must maintain a calm and positive attitude even in difficult situations and emergencies.
- Admitting and discharging procedures.
- Take prescription refill and medical records requests.
- Rooming patients including collecting and recording patient weigh-in.
- Maintain accuracy of cash and POS transactions in admitting and discharging patients including collecting deposits.
- Explain hospital procedures and protocols to clients and pet owners.
- Ensure patient records are complete and accurate. All communications are properly recorded.
- Perform opening and closing procedures.
- Perform a variety of other clerical duties as needed.
- Maintain cleanliness in all client accessed areas and throughout the hospital.
- Bilingual preferred but not required.
In addition to providing excellent customer service to clients and ensuring that front desk operations run smoothly, the receptionist acts as the primary greeter when a client enters the waiting room with their pet, alerts the appropriate technician or veterinarian of the client’s arrival, and processes the client’s payment at the conclusion of the appointment.
