Primary Purpose:
The Dyslexia Interventionist - Lead supports the district dyslexia program by providing instructional leadership, coaching, and program oversight. This role ensures high-quality implementation of evidence-based dyslexia interventions, supports accurate identification of students with characteristics of dyslexia, and delivers districtwide training for dyslexia interventionists, campus staff, and parents. The Dyslexia Interventionist - Lead mentors interventionists through modeling, feedback, and ongoing professional learning to promote consistent, effective instructional practices.
Qualifications:
Education / Certification:
- Valid Texas teacher certification
- Special Education certification required
- Training in dyslexia and related disorders
- Minimum of three years teaching experience
- Training in individualized, intensive, multisensory, phonetic instructional methods specific to dyslexia
- Certified Academic Language Therapist (CALT) preferred
Special Knowledge/Skills
- Strong knowledge of common signs and characteristics of dyslexia
- Ability to administer and interpret dyslexia identification assessments
- Knowledge of district dyslexia program requirements and state dyslexia laws
- Ability to train teachers and staff in dyslexia intervention programs
- Ability to collaborate effectively with principals, teachers, students, parents, and community stakeholders
- Strong organizational, communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills
Experience
- Experience delivering evidence based dyslexia intervention
- Experience administering and analyzing district reading assessments
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Deliver and model structured literacy instruction aligned with state dyslexia laws and the Science of Reading.
2. Monitor and support implementation of the Multisensory Teaching Approach (MTA) and other district approved dyslexia programs
3. Provide coaching and actionable feedback to dyslexia interventionists to improve instructional quality
4. Model effective dyslexia intervention lessons on campuses as needed
5. Provide districtwide professional development aligned to program needs
6. Train dyslexia interventionists, campus staff, and parents on dyslexia characteristics, interventions, and progress monitoring
7. Collaborate with district departments to ensure cohesive literacy support
8. Participate in district data reviews and support interventionists in analyzing student progress
9. Collaborate with district departments to ensure cohesive literacy support
10. Provide feedback to Dyslexia Interventionist to accelerate student achievement
11. Participate in data review and analysis of data pertaining to dyslexia students
12. Complete other duties as assigned
