Company: Hundred Flowers, Inc.
Location: Santa Ana, CA | On-Site at 13,740 sq ft Controlled Environment Grow Facility
About Us
Hundred Flowers is a leading indoor cannabis cultivation company dedicated to growing premium, sustainable cannabis while setting the gold standard for operational excellence and regulatory compliance. Our state-of-the-art facility combines cutting-edge technology (automated irrigation, energy-efficient lighting, climate control) with strict adherence to state and federal cannabis laws.
We’re looking for a detail-oriented Construction Technician to join our maintenance and construction team—someone who thrives in hands-on, fast-paced environments and is excited to build the future of legal cannabis. Your work will directly impact how we grow, ensuring our facility remains safe, efficient, and optimized for plant health.
Job Overview
As a Construction Technician, you’ll support new construction projects, facility renovations, and routine maintenance at our indoor grow facility. You’ll collaborate with engineers, electricians, cultivators, and contractors to install, repair, and upgrade critical infrastructure—all while upholding the highest standards of safety, compliance, and quality.
This role is perfect for candidates who love solving technical problems, working outdoors/on-site, and being part of a team that’s shaping an emerging industry. No prior cannabis experience? No problem—we offer on-the-job training to teach you the unique nuances of indoor cultivation construction!
Key Responsibilities
Under the direction of our Head Technician, you’ll perform:
- Infrastructure Installation & Repair:
- Install or replace grow light fixtures (LED), irrigation systems (drip lines, nutrient delivery), and HVAC ducting in grow rooms, curing areas, and processing zones.
- Assist with structural modifications (e.g., framing walls, installing drywall, reinforcing floors) to expand or optimize growing space.
- Repair damaged equipment (e.g., fans, sensors, pumps) and replace worn parts (belts, hoses, gaskets) to minimize downtime.
- Compliance & Safety:
- Ensure all work adheres to local building codes, state cannabis regulations (e.g., California Health and Safety Code, and OSHA standards).
- Maintain detailed records of materials used, repairs completed, and system upgrades for regulatory audits and facility documentation.
- Follow strict safety protocols: Wear PPE (hard hat, gloves, goggles, steel-toe boots), use lockout/tagout procedures for electrical systems, and report hazards immediately.
- Collaboration & Support:
- Work with cross-functional teams (cultivation, engineering, and lab) to align construction projects with grower needs (e.g., adjusting room layout for better light penetration).
- Coordinate with third-party contractors (electricians, plumbers, HVAC technicians) to schedule and execute complex installations.
- Troubleshoot minor issues (e.g., leaky irrigation lines, faulty sensors) to keep the facility running smoothly between formal projects.
- Equipment & Tool Management:
- Operate power tools (drills, saws, impact wrenches) and hand tools (screwdrivers, wrenches, levels) with proper training and safety precautions.
- Perform routine maintenance on company tools (e.g., sharpening blades, calibrating measuring devices) to ensure functionality.
Qualifications & RequirementsMust-Haves:
- High school diploma or GED (or equivalent work experience).
- 1–3 years of hands-on construction experience (commercial/residential) or related trade (e.g., carpentry, maintenance, irrigation).
- Ability to read basic blueprints, schematics, or facility diagrams.
- Proficient with power tools and hand tools—willingness to learn specialized cannabis facility equipment (e.g., automated lighting controllers).
- Strong physical stamina: Lift 50+ pounds regularly, climb ladders, work in confined spaces, and stand for 8+ hours per shift.
Nice-to-Haves:
- Knowledge of indoor plant cultivation basics (light cycles, humidity requirements, nutrient balance).
- OSHA 10 Certification or construction safety training.
- Team player with excellent communication skills—able to explain technical issues to non-experts.
