Job Description
Job Summary:
The Arc of Larimer County (Arc-LC) is presently seeking to add someone to our exceptional staff who is passionate about advocating for the rights of individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD). This position is responsible for reviewing incoming advocacy requests, initiating the appropriate intake process, gathering relevant information, and presenting cases at triage meetings. This role also includes identifying and getting clients connected to appropriate public benefits resources.
Job Responsibilities
Core Functions:
· Serve as the initial point of contact for advocacy inquiries via phone, email, or referral.
- Identify needs and resources required for individual clients referred to the agency by themselves, parents/guardians, case managers, social workers or school personnel.
- Ensure intake documentation is thorough, accurate, and reflective of the client’s needs and goals.
- Collect and organize relevant supporting documentation (e.g., IEPs, 504 Plans, service records) to provide background and context to advocates.
- Support advocates by identifying gaps in information or services and helping to fill those gaps through resource coordination.
- Collaborate with advocates to determine an appropriate path forward: direct advocacy, referral, or resource navigation.
- Educate clients and families on resource eligibility criteria, required documentation, and timelines for public benefits resource support.
· Assist clients in gathering, organizing, and submitting application materials, including medical records, financial documentation, and functional information.
· Track application status and provide follow-up support, including responding to agency requests, troubleshooting barriers, and coordinating next steps.
· Maintain up-to-date knowledge of local, state, and federal resources, including eligibility criteria and application processes.
- Identify, evaluate, and recommend appropriate community resources, services, and supports tailored to each client’s unique situation
- Build cooperative problem-solving approaches around the interest of clients with others on their team including their family, personal support systems, educational providers, and service providers.
- Provide guidance and support through application processes, including as needed support for non-readers.
- Provide workshops, in-services, and training on topics of general interest to people with disabilities and their families.
- Contribute articles to the organization newsletter periodically.
- Mentor, support, train and collaborate with other staff members and volunteers as appropriate.
- Return initial calls and e-mails within two business days to family members and individuals with disabilities – 3 business days for all others.
- Attend Resource Meetings within the community.
- Always represent The Arc’s values and beliefs in a fair and effective manner and during all community interactions.
Administrative Functions
- Maintain all client information and records according to agency policies and procedures.
- Record all documentation needed to demonstrate the results of activities as they relate to desired outcomes.
- Provide any other documentation or information as requested accurately and in a timely fashion.
- Communicate with Direct Supervisor and the Executive Director regarding problems that are not being resolved.
- Provide monthly status reports to Arc BOD.
Qualifications
- Must have reliable transportation to and from work and around the county area – either personal vehicle with a valid DL or comfortability with public transportation.
- Must be able to successfully complete a background check.
- Knowledge of resources available to children and adults with disabilities and their families in Colorado and Larimer County.
· A minimum of one year of experience in the field of developmental disabilities and/or working with people with IDD required – in a lived or professional capacity.
· Intermediate level proficiency in Microsoft programs required

Compensation: $22.07-$25.42 / per hour with increases in compensation as knowledge and experience expand, and training occurs that substantively and specifically improves job performance.

Physical Requirements:This job operates in a professional office environment. It requires the routine use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines. This job requires travel throughout Larimer County Colorado. This position also requires occasional travel within the State of Colorado and out of state to attend national conferences and/or meetings.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit at a desk, use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee also must be able to lift and carry up to thirty pounds (e.g., props, training materials, etc.) when necessary to set up for training/events whether onsite or offsite.
