Position Title: Youth Team Coach

Type of Position: Hourly, Part Time
About the Role: Sportrock Climbing Centers - Alexandria is seeking a knowledgeable, energetic, and team-oriented Coach to join our Youth Introductory Teams! This coach will play a vital role in developing youth athletes in an introductory setting, helping them develop foundational knowledge and techniques in a fun team environment. Experience in this coaching role, couple with paid coaching development, may lead to coaching opportunities within our performance teams (S1-S4). Additional professional growth opportunities in route setting, outdoor guiding, and management will also become available as you grow with Sportrock!
What You’ll Do: As an Introductory Teams Coach, you will:
- Run structured practices using plans developed by the Head Coach.
- Lead small groups of youth athletes through climbing drills and technical exercises.
- Provide feedback on movement and organized team participation.
- Support athlete development in both physical and mental aspects of the sport.
- Maintain open, professional communication with the Head Coach, athletes, and parents.
- Help foster a culture of teamwork, positivity, and growth.
- Develop positive professional relationships with athletes.
- Follow all coaching protocols and safety policies outlined by Sportrock.
What We’re Looking For:
- 1+ years of personal climbing experience
- 1+ year of experience coaching or working with youth athletes (preferred)
- Enthusiasm for the sport and a positive, approachable coaching style
- Top-Rope Belay Certified (or willing to become certified upon hire)
- Ability to work weekends and occasional evenings, with consistent participation in a majority of program practices.
- Must be 16 years of age or older
