Responsibilities
- Prepare ingredients by washing, chopping, and measuring to ensure smooth kitchen operations
- Cook menu items according to standardized recipes and presentation standards
- Assist in menu planning by providing feedback on ingredient availability and preparation methods
- Maintain food safety and sanitation standards in line with health regulations
- Support catering and special event meal preparations with precision and efficiency
- Handle food with care, ensuring proper storage, labeling, and rotation of ingredients
- Collaborate with team members to ensure timely service and exceptional food quality
Experience
- Previous kitchen experience in a restaurant or food service setting is preferred but not required; enthusiasm for learning is key
- Knowledge of food handling procedures, safety protocols, and sanitation practices
- Familiarity with culinary techniques such as knife skills, meal preparation, and cooking methods
- Experience with dietary department or dietary aide roles is a plus, especially if involved in menu planning or special dietary accommodations
- Strong understanding of the food industry standards for quality and safety
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining attention to detail
