Flexible Clinical Leadership Opportunity
An established Minnesota provider of assisted living and community-based services is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) to serve as our Quality Assurance and Clinical Education Nurse. This flexible, salaried position is ideal for an experienced RN looking to supplement their current employment while maintaining a meaningful role in clinical education, quality improvement, and regulatory compliance.
The position is primarily based out of our Richfield office with occasional travel to residential locations throughout the Twin Cities metro for quality assurance reviews, competency evaluations, and staff education.
Position Summary
The RN – Quality Assurance & Clinical Education is responsible for supporting clinical excellence across programs licensed under Minnesota 245D and 144G regulations. This role focuses on staff development, regulatory compliance, quality improvement, and competency validation rather than ongoing case management.
The successful candidate will serve as a clinical resource for leadership and direct care staff while helping ensure consistent, high-quality nursing practices throughout the organization.
Responsibilities
Conduct bi-weekly medication administration training and orientation for newly hired staff working in 144G assisted living settings.
Complete medication administration skills checks and annual competency evaluations in accordance with Minnesota 144G requirements.
Provide clinical skills training for direct support professionals and caregivers serving individuals in 245D programs.
Develop and maintain competency documentation and training records.
Conduct quality assurance visits at assigned residential locations to evaluate compliance with clinical standards, documentation, medication management practices, and applicable regulations.
Identify opportunities for process improvement and collaborate with leadership to implement corrective actions when needed.
Assist with regulatory survey readiness and ongoing quality improvement initiatives.
Serve as a clinical education resource for managers and staff.
Maintain current knowledge of Minnesota assisted living and community-based services regulations and nursing best practices.
Qualifications
Current Minnesota Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing.
Minimum of three years of nursing experience preferred.
Experience in assisted living, community-based services, developmental disabilities, home care, or long-term care strongly preferred.
Knowledge of Minnesota 245D and/or 144G regulations is highly preferred.
Experience providing staff education, competency evaluations, or clinical training is strongly desired.
Excellent organizational, communication, and documentation skills.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for occasional local travel.
Schedule
Approximately 10–12 hours per week with a highly flexible weekday schedule.
Bi-weekly orientation and medication administration training sessions will be scheduled in advance, with remaining hours allocated to quality assurance activities, competency evaluations, and clinical education.
Compensation & Benefits
Annual salary of $26,000.
