A Healthy Dose Foundation, Inc. (AHDF) is seeking a motivated and community-minded Pharmacy Intern to support our health education, community outreach, and preventive health initiatives throughout Pinellas, Hillsborough, and Pasco Counties.
This is an excellent opportunity for a Doctor of Pharmacy student who is passionate about public health, health education, community engagement, and improving access to healthcare for vulnerable and underserved populations.
The Pharmacy Intern will work an average of 4 hours per week. Scheduling is flexible, and we will work around the intern's academic and school schedule. Some weekday, evening, and weekend availability may be needed depending on community outreach activities.
Key ResponsibilitiesCommunity Health Education & Engagement
- Identify and establish relationships with community partners, including local schools, colleges and universities, churches, community centers, youth organizations, nonprofit organizations, and other community-based groups.
- Coordinate opportunities to provide health education presentations and community education activities.
- Assist with developing and presenting engaging educational sessions on a variety of health and wellness topics.
- Adapt educational content to meet the needs, age groups, and interests of different community audiences.
- Maintain organized records of community contacts, presentations, outreach activities, and follow-up needs.
- Identify community locations where free condoms and sexual health resources can be made available.
- Establish and maintain relationships with condom distribution sites and assist with regularly supplying these locations with prevention materials.
Community Outreach & Testing
- Participate in community-based health fairs, outreach events, and testing activities.
- Assist with participant registration and intake.
- Obtain and document vital signs.
- Assist with rapid testing for HIV, Hepatitis C, and syphilis (RPR) after appropriate training and in accordance with organizational protocols.
- Provide basic health education and prevention information to community members.
- Assist with connecting individuals to appropriate healthcare and community resources when needed.
- Support event setup, organization, documentation, and other outreach activities.

Required Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in an accredited Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree program.
- Pharmacy Intern registration/licensure as required by the State of Florida.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to travel to outreach locations throughout Pinellas, Hillsborough, and Pasco Counties.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle health information professionally.
- Willingness to complete training related to rapid testing, community outreach, and organizational procedures.
Internship Schedule
This is a 6-month internship averaging approximately 4 hours per week, with the potential to extend based on organizational needs and intern performance.
The schedule is flexible and designed to accommodate pharmacy school responsibilities. Outreach activities may occur on weekdays or weekends, and scheduling will vary based on community events and partner availability.

Pay: $22.00 per hour
