JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Title: Summer Jobs Team Leader
Reports to: Connections Director
Part-time, 18-24 hours/week, usually Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday, from June 8 - August 13
Pay Rate: $17.00-$18/hr
Position Qualifications:
- High School Diploma
- At least 21 years of age
- Demonstrated ability to develop relationships and be a positive role model for young people, especially with youth in vulnerable situations.
- Pass Background Check
- Valid Driver’s License highly preferred
- Embraces mission and vision of Escape Ministries
- Demonstrates commitment to a trauma-informed, equitable, and relational approach to youth empowerment
Position Responsibilities:
- Work alongside and supervise a team of three to five high school-age youth while effectively completing work projects (e.g. bus cleaning, spreading mulch, weeding, returning cans, etc.)
- Demonstrate, teach, and develop job skills in youth (e.g. work ethic, communication, raking, etc.)
- Take daily attendance, collect phones, prepare team for work
- Transport youth to and from work sites in Escape vehicles.
- Carry out trauma-informed, restorative, and consistent disciplinary steps according to the Escape Summer Jobs Handbook.
- Actively supervise and engage with youth while at Escape, in vehicles, and on work site.
- Lead enrichment activities with youth as available (career tours, cooking club, etc)
- Work with a team of leaders to facilitate a safe environment for youth to build relationships and engage in personal and spiritual growth.
- Use in person, phone and/or email methods to effectively communicate with work site contact, Escape, parents and youth, as appropriate.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift 25 pounds overhead repeatedly during the day.
