Kiefer Counseling is a collaborative, supportive private practice dedicated to providing compassionate, evidence-based mental health care to children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families. We are currently seeking a fully licensed mental health clinician to join our Torrington office as an independent contractor (1099).

Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality, evidence-based individual, family, and/or couples psychotherapy to clients across the lifespan, based on your areas of competence and clinical expertise.
- Conduct comprehensive biopsychosocial assessments and develop individualized treatment plans that reflect clients' goals, strengths, and clinical needs.
- Maintain an active caseload while providing consistent, ethical, and client-centered care.
- Complete all required clinical documentation—including intake assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, and discharge summaries—in a timely manner and in accordance with agency, insurance, and state regulations.
- Assess for safety concerns, including suicide risk, self-harm, abuse, and crisis situations, and implement appropriate interventions when necessary.
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA, Connecticut licensing regulations, and professional ethical standards.
- Collaborate with other providers, schools, primary care physicians, psychiatrists, and community agencies as clinically appropriate to support continuity of care.
- Build and maintain strong therapeutic relationships while creating a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for clients from diverse backgrounds.
- Maintain professional boundaries, engage in ongoing professional development, and remain current with best practices within the mental health field.
- Effectively manage scheduling, cancellations, and client communication in collaboration with administrative staff to ensure continuity of care.
Qualifications
- Valid licensure as a Mental Health Professional (e.g., LPC, LMFT, LCSW) with current certification to practice independently.
- Minimum of two years of professional experience working in the mental health field following completion of graduate education.
- Experience providing psychotherapy and conducting clinical assessments.
- Strong clinical judgment and ability to independently manage a caseload.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with electronic health records (EHR) and timely completion of clinical documentation.
- Active professional liability insurance (or ability to obtain prior to start date).
Preferred Availability
We are looking for clinicians who can provide in-person services with morning, afternoon, and evening availability. Weekend availability is a plus!
