Position shifts:
Monday-Friday
8-hour shifts between 7:15 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.
Pay: starts at $15.50 per hour, commensurate with experience
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
- Provides and maintains appropriate welcoming classroom environment and atmosphere where children are accepted and respected as individuals.
- Will not leave children unattended or unsupervised. Failure to comply with this would be considered child neglect and endangerment.
- Plans and implements daily lessons that are developmentally appropriate for the group and individual; communicates positively with children; uses appropriate child development methods; adapts activities for children with disabilities.
- Conducts at least two parent teacher conferences per year with appropriate documentation.
- Plans and sets up classroom with accessible age-appropriate materials, equipment, and activities designed to stimulate questioning, problem solving, decision making and physical development.
- Maintain current and accurate records of student observations and lesson plans.
- Follows all regulations and requirements as dictated by BCGC policy, State Childcare Licensing Requirements, and Paths to Quality.
- Prepares student attendance records, first aid/injury reports, food service records as needed, memos, correspondence, and other job related documents using prescribed format and conforming to all rules of punctuation, grammar, diction, and style.
- Plans activities and encourages positive adult-child interactions.
- Provides guidance to Substitute Teachers when applicable; provides example and direction.
- Provides training for new Lead Teachers, Teacher Assistants and Substitute Teachers, as assigned.
- Observe and assess children to determine the need for conferences with parents. Is aware of and adopts activities for children with disabilities as applicable.
- Carries out positive discipline practices in accordance with BCGC policies and procedures.
- Supervises and mentors Teacher Assistants and/or Aides.
- Attends various training sessions, meetings, seminars, and workshops.
- Prepares and/or serves meals and snacks with attention to detail to ensure all dietary restrictions are being honored; sitting with children to encourage social interaction, performs housekeeping tasks.
- Minimum Training and Experience Required to Perform Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Must be able to obtain CPR and First Aid Certification within 60 days of hiring.
- Minimum Physical and Mental Abilities required to Perform Essential Job Functions Physical Requirements
- Ability to exert physical effort in light to moderate work involving lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling; ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl; ability to climb and balance; tasks require visual perception and discrimination.
- Ability to cultivate and maintain a positive and dynamic agency culture and vision.
- Spanish immersion is a core value of our center, so ability to speak Spanish is important!
