The Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) provides comprehensive psychiatric care to patients participating in the Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) and Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP). Working as an integral member of the interdisciplinary treatment team, the PMHNP evaluates, diagnoses, and treats patients with a range of behavioral health conditions who require a higher level of care than traditional outpatient services.
The PMHNP is responsible for psychiatric evaluations, medication management, ongoing clinical assessment, risk evaluation, and treatment planning throughout the patient’s participation in the program. This position works closely with psychiatrists, therapists, nursing staff, social workers, and other members of the care team to support stabilization, recovery, and safe transition to the appropriate level of care.
Clinical -
Conduct psychiatric evaluations, diagnose behavioral health conditions, develop individualized treatment plans, and prescribe and manage psychotropic medications. Perform ongoing clinical and safety assessments to monitor treatment response, identify changes in patient condition, and determine appropriate level-of-care needs. Collaborate with the interdisciplinary treatment team on patient care, treatment planning, discharge planning, and transitions between levels of care. Provide psychiatric consultation, patient and family education, and coordination with healthcare providers and community resources to support continuity of care. Complete accurate and timely clinical documentation and participate in program development, quality improvement initiatives, and other duties as assigned.
Responsible to a Chair or other appropriate higher-level administrator of a State university. Responsible for teaching, research, service, and related administrative activities. Responsible for academic advising and related activities. May represent the university, college/school, or department.
Master's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate field of specialization or equivalent qualifications based on professional experience and otherwise qualified to perform assigned duties. Must meet university criteria for appointment to the rank of Instructor.
This position requires graduation from an accredited Advanced Practice Registered Nurse academic degree program and certification as outlined in Florida Statutes 464 and Florida Administrative Code, Chapter 64, or graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant academic degree program and certification as outlined in Florida Statutes 458 and 459 and Florida Administrative Code, Chapter 64.
