ARK Preschool is a ministry of AHCC, serving families of preschoolers who desire low cost, high quality instruction and care. Our goal is to provide children with a well-balanced, developmentally appropriate, Christian environment to nurture a lifelong love of learning about God's world. The Preschool's vision is to see students and their families thrive spiritually, cognitively, socially, emotionally and physically. ARK Preschool meets September to June. Classes meet Monday through Thursday from 8:45 am to 11:45 am. Employees have the choice of either a 10-month or 12-month pay cycle. Lead Teachers are paid additional hours for additional planning, events and tasks as assigned.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Creating and maintaining a learning environment which fosters positive growth and development in our students' academic, physical, social, emotional and spiritual lives.
- Creating and maintaining a safe, clean, well-managed and organized space for students to learn and thrive in.
- Collaborate with and direct Teacher Assistant in classroom tasks and student engagement.
- Attend to the safety of our students; problem-solve any potential dangers by being proactive, not reactive.
- Communicate understanding of and adherence to biblical principles to students as well as parents and colleagues.
- Developing age-appropriate lessons and activities, keeping in mind the overall themes and weekly/monthly concepts set forth by Director, as well as the learning needs of individual students.
- Interacting with students during free play times, such as opening stations, recess, library time, etc.
- Assist with behavior management during group times, such as Anchor Time, recess, Pastor & the Peeps, etc. Aiming to use positive redirection and encouraging language with students.
- Gather various resources needed to facilitate both teaching and learning of planned lessons.
- Incorporating “Anchor Time” concepts into regular classroom curricular lessons.
- Developing a positive Behavior Management system for the classroom.
- Dialogue with Director and Parents regarding any individual student problems or successes you feel need to be shared.
- Assessing students informally through means of observation and formally with skills measurement at the beginning and end of the year. This is done in partnership with the Director.
- Attend any work events, such as school promotional events, Parent Night Outs, classroom opening and closing, and staff trainings.
Character & Church Requirements
- Have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ as both Lord and Savior.
- Model positive, genuine Christian character and the fruits of the Spirit.
- Agree to teach and practically live out the AHCC Statement of Faith in Exhibit B and Exhibit C “Human Sexuality, Marriage and Gender Statement”
- Commit, attend and participate in a local church body for the purposes of personal Christian growth, fellowship, service and worship.
Education/Experience:
- Completion of college level or current coursework in early childhood education is strongly encouraged.
- Three to five years of on the job experience, primarily with children ages two to five, working individually or with groups of preschool children is strongly encouraged.

Creativity – The ability to communicate, assist and teach kids in an interesting and fun way. This is essential for engaging and teaching young children.
Interpersonal Relating – The ability to relate socially and emotionally to both children and parents. This includes skills such as empathy, compassion, good communication, active listening and encouragement.
Good Communication – The ability to communicate one’s thoughts, ideas and instructions in a clear, understandable and meaningful fashion. This especially includes the ability to relate difficult or hard to grasp concepts in an understandable way.
Administration – The ability to organize, plan and coordinate details in a classroom or within daily routine work.
Teamwork – The ability to function within a team environment which requires a positive attitude, good listening skills, encouragement of co-workers and supporting the team.
Pay: $23.00 - $25.00 per hour
