Essential Duties:
1. Be a leader in providing Excellent Customer Service to residents, families, coworkers, visitors, vendors, and volunteers.
2. Observe the needs of the residents and respond to those individual needs. Respond to all call bells, including assigned residents and all other residents.
3. Complete personal care assignment as directed including resident hair washing, bathing, dressing and grooming. Assist residents with toileting and/or incontinence care.
4. Transport or walk residents to and from meals, activities, etc. Responsible to walk residents on a daily walking program as established by Nurse or Rehab Staff.
5. Assist with bed making.
6. Report any resident change of condition or condition which is out of the ordinary to the nurse, i.e. changes in eating, toilet habits, weight, level of awareness, etc.
7. Complete dining room observation and aiding residents as needed.
8. Take temperatures, pulses, respirations, blood pressures and weights.
9. Learn and effectively execute evacuation procedures, with knowledge of Emergency Management plan.
10. Transfer residents from wheelchair to chairs and beds, and be familiar with proper lifting techniques and mechanical lifts. Request assistance in any situation in the delivery of resident care, i.e. lifting, transfers, falls, etc. (this ensures residents and employee safety.), if assistance is warranted.
11. Maintain a respectful attitude toward all residents, family members, visitors and staff members.
12. Report immediately any conditions that are unsafe or unsanitary.
13. Report any incidences/accidents that occur immediately.
14. Be alert to the noise level (i.e.: music, voices, moving furniture, etc.) in the facility. Volume of noise affects resident comfort.
15. Awareness of signs of pain, palliative care and hospice services.
16. Awareness of types of abuse and responsibility of reporting to ensure the safety of all residents.
17. Awareness of safety policies and procedures to ensure resident safety.
18. Attend required classroom DPW annual training and Dementia I and II training.
