Independent Contract Driver – Job Description
Position Overview
The Independent Contract Driver is responsible for completing scheduled and on‑demand delivery assignments with professionalism, accuracy, and reliability. This role requires the contractor to use their own insured vehicle, maintain compliance with all contractual requirements, and operate GPS‑based navigation systems confidently to ensure timely and efficient delivery service.
Key Responsibilities
- Complete assigned deliveries safely, accurately, and on time across designated service areas.
- Operate and maintain a personal vehicle in good working condition, meeting all contract requirements for reliability and safety.
- Maintain active vehicle insurance that meets or exceeds contractual standards, including liability coverage as required.
- Use and understand GPS navigation systems (Google Maps, Waze, or equivalent) to plan routes, avoid delays, and ensure efficient travel.
- Follow all delivery protocols, including chain‑of‑custody procedures when transporting sensitive or medical materials.
- Communicate professionally with dispatch, clients, and team members regarding delivery status, delays, or issues.
- Handle packages with care, ensuring items remain secure, intact, and properly documented.
- Adhere to all federal, state, and local traffic laws while representing the company with professionalism.
- Maintain accurate records of mileage, delivery times, and completed assignments as required by contract.
- Provide exceptional customer service, demonstrating reliability, courtesy, and a commitment to quality.
Requirements
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
- Reliable personal vehicle that meets company standards
- Proof of active vehicle insurance meeting contractual requirements
- Ability to operate and understand GPS navigation systems
- Smartphone capable of running delivery and navigation apps
- Strong time‑management and communication skills
- Ability to lift and carry packages as needed
- Professional appearance and conduct
- Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision
Pay: $150.00 - $1,500.00 per week
