Communications & Marketing Manager
Department: Advancement
Reports To: Executive Director
FLSA Status: Exempt
Leadership Level: Level 3 - Manager
Position Supervised: Coordinators, interns, and contractors as assigned
Job Status: Full-Time
Amount of Travel Required: 5%
Schedule: Full-time, some evening and weekend work, and increased hours during Pride season.
Compensation Range: $50,000 – $60,000, commensurate with experience

Summary
The Communications & Marketing Manager will develop and manage content, campaigns, messaging, and brand communications that elevate Stonewall Columbus’ visibility and advance its mission. The manager will translate programs, events, community impact, and organization priorities into compelling narrative and engagement opportunities.
Essential Responsibilities
Strategic Communications & Marketing
- Lead the development and execution of communications and marketing efforts.
- Support implementation of communications strategy aligned with organizational values and goals.
- Ensure consistent voice, messaging, and brand identity across all platforms.
- Identify opportunities to elevate visibility, engagement, and storytelling.
Content Development & Digital Engagement
- Develop and manage content across social media, website, email communications, and digital campaigns.
- Create engaging written, visual, and video content supporting community engagement, donor cultivation, event promotion, and program visibility.
- Monitor and respond to community engagement across platforms.
- Stay current on trends in digital communications and social media.
Campaigns & Advancement Alignment
- Support fundraising and partnership campaigns.
- Develop communications that support donor engagement and stewardship, Pride 365 partnerships, membership, and community growth.
- Support planning and execution of campaigns tied to organizational priorities and events.
Brand Management & Storytelling
- Ensure consistency and integrity of the Stonewall Columbus brand.
- Translate programmatic work and community impact into compelling narratives.
- Collaborate with Programs & Learning to highlight stories and outcomes.
- Support development of public-facing materials and messaging.
Event & Organizational Support
- Support communications and promotion for organizational events, including Pride and year-round programming.
- Collaborate with Operations and Advancement teams to align messaging and execution.
- Assist with event-related communications and on-site support as needed.
Data, Analytics & Continuous Improvement
- Track and analyze engagement metrics across communications platforms.
- Use data to inform content strategy and improve performance.
- Develop and maintain reporting on communications effectiveness.
Team Leadership & Coordination
- Supervise and support interns, coordinators, and contractors as assigned.
- Provide guidance and training on communications tools and best practices.
- Foster a collaborative and responsive team environment.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or a related field.
- 3-5+ years of experience in communications, marketing, or digital engagement roles.
- Demonstrated capability in managing multi-channel digital strategies and multi-project timelines.
- Experience supporting the LGBTQ+ community or a related public-sector human-services field.
- Proficiency with computer programs necessary to complete the above tasks, including Outlook, Mailchimp, Salesforce, and other applicable systems.
- Must have a valid Ohio driver’s license, proof of automobile insurance, and pass a criminal background check.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working within nonprofit or mission-driven environments.
- Background in supporting fundraising or advancement communications.
- Familiarity with CRM systems, email marketing platforms, and social media management tools.

Work Environment & Expectations
This position is fully in-office, including some evening and weekend coverage, active presence at the Community Center and off-site events, and the opportunity to flex scheduling with volunteer support. The position requires the ability to manage both strategic oversight and hands-on execution and to lift, move, and manage physical event and tabling demands as needed.
