Chihuly Studio seeks an Art Handling & Warehouse Assistant to join our team. Chihuly Studio is the family-owned business of world-renowned artist Dale Chihuly, where the Chihuly team is committed to a collaborative and passionate culture supporting the work, creative design, and excellent client service of our inspirational and distinguished artist.
The Art Handling & Warehouse Assistant reports to the Manager of Shipping and Production, and handles the daily functions of shipping, receiving and order picking. This role also participates in a variety of functions for the Studio Edition Program, including but not limited to quality control, aesthetic composition, sandblasting and etching, inventory, packing and shipping. This position is an in-person role, based at the Studio's Tacoma location.
Essential Responsibilities:
· Pick and pack general orders, including framed prints and glass art.
· Provide shipping quotes for domestic and international shipments.
· Process shipments primarily via on-line processing with FedEx, but may include handwritten waybills or vendor specific portals.
· Communicate details of shipments to applicable Studio departments.
· Maintain and order all supplies associated with general packing for the Studio print and glass programs.
· Lead inventory counts and audits in conjunction with the accounting department by reporting numbers and participating in applicable reconciliation procedures.
· Unpack, inspect and prepare return shipments for distribution.
· Oversee print program including quality control, packing, prepping for transfer to and from print framing partner.
· Oversee the Studio edition program including quality control, scribing, (by hand and sandblasting), composing artwork, inventory, packing and shipping.
· Assist with cross training in all areas of the shipping floor.
· Receive large bulk shipments, update appropriate logs, confirm piece counts, label for distribution and update all Studio departments.
· Assume special projects and participate in all assigned activities.
Qualifications
· High school diploma or equivalent
· Previous experience shipping with FedEx, UPS, and USPS
· Proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Dynamics GP
· Experience with such equipment as hand trucks, pallet jacks and forklifts
· Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly.
· Ability to work at heights, including climbing ladders and working off scaffolding and/or lifts.
