Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated and responsible Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Clase A Driver to join our dynamic transportation team. In this role, you will be responsible for safely operating various types of vehicles, including school buses, paratransit vehicles, and other commercial transportation modes. Your primary goal is to ensure the safe, timely, and courteous transportation of passengers, including children, seniors, and individuals with special needs. This position offers an exciting opportunity to make a positive impact on our community while demonstrating excellent driving skills and adherence to safety standards. All positions are paid, including internships.
Responsibilities
- Safely operate commercial vehicles such as school buses, paratransit vans, and other transportation vehicles in compliance with traffic laws and vehicle codes.
- Conduct pre-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and mechanical readiness before each shift.
- Follow all traffic laws and emergency response procedures for transportation to guarantee passenger safety at all times.
- Assist passengers with boarding and disembarking, providing excellent customer service and support for individuals with special needs or mobility challenges.
- Maintain accurate logs of trips, mileage, fuel consumption, and incident reports as required by company policies.
- Respond quickly and effectively to traffic changes or emergencies, including emergency stop procedures and first aid if necessary.
- Communicate clearly with dispatchers, passengers, and team members using effective communication skills; multilingual abilities are a plus.
Skills
- Proven experience in bus driving, commercial driving, or related transportation roles.
- Knowledge of traffic laws, vehicle codes, defensive driving techniques, and emergency response procedures for transportation.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting when assisting passengers or handling equipment.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively with children, seniors, or individuals requiring special care.
- Mechanical knowledge of vehicle systems for basic troubleshooting and maintenance awareness.
- Familiarity with school policies regarding student safety and behavior management.
- Bilingual skills or multilingual abilities are highly valued to serve diverse communities effectively.
- Demonstrated ability to respond quickly to traffic changes or unexpected situations with calmness and professionalism.
