Position Overview
Coach Hop Sports Academy is seeking passionate and dependable Founding Volunteer Youth Football Coaches to help build our San Antonio Iron Bulls and Helotes Jr. Panthers football programs for the 2027 season.
This is more than stepping into an established team. Our Founding Coaches will have the opportunity to help establish the culture, standards, traditions, and identity of a new youth football program from the ground up.
Our mission is to develop young athletes through quality instruction, positive coaching, character development, discipline, leadership, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
We welcome experienced youth coaches, former athletes, educators, parents, veterans, and individuals who have a genuine passion for mentoring young athletes.
Coaching Positions
We are recruiting for:
- Head Coaches
- Offensive Coordinators
- Defensive Coordinators
- Assistant Coaches
Age-division assignments will be based on program needs, coaching experience, availability, and overall fit.
Responsibilities
Founding Coaches will:
- Assist with the development and operation of their assigned football team.
- Teach age-appropriate football fundamentals, techniques, and position skills.
- Help plan and conduct organized practices.
- Coach during games, practices, clinics, and other team activities.
- Emphasize player development, safety, sportsmanship, discipline, and teamwork.
- Create a positive and encouraging environment for athletes of varying skill levels.
- Serve as a positive role model and mentor for young athletes.
- Communicate professionally with fellow coaches, athletes, parents, and CHSA leadership.
- Support player recruitment and community outreach efforts.
- Help promote their team and CHSA through approved recruiting materials and social media.
- Participate in scheduled coaches meetings, training, and preseason preparation.
- Follow CHSA coaching standards, policies, safety requirements, and Code of Conduct.
- Complete required background screening, league requirements, and applicable certifications before participating in official team activities.
- Help establish the culture and traditions of the program as a member of the Founding Coaching Staff.
Qualifications
Required:
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Genuine interest in working with and mentoring youth athletes.
- Dependable, professional, and team-oriented.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to provide positive and constructive instruction.
- Available for scheduled practices, games, meetings, and team activities.
- Willingness to follow CHSA policies and coaching philosophy.
- Ability to successfully complete required background screening and safety requirements.
Preferred but not required:
- Previous youth football coaching experience.
- High school, collegiate, semi-professional, or professional football playing experience.
- Experience working with children or youth programs.
- Knowledge of football fundamentals, schemes, techniques, or position development.
- CPR/First Aid or applicable youth-sports certifications.
Playing or coaching experience is valuable, but character, reliability, leadership, and the ability to positively develop young athletes are equally important.
Position Type
Volunteer / Seasonal
Spring 2027 with opportunities to continue into future seasons and assume additional leadership responsibilities as CHSA grows.
Founding Coaches may also have opportunities to participate in CHSA clinics, athlete-development programs, camps, community events, and other football programming.
