The Mail Clerk is responsible for the efficient processing, distribution, and delivery of all incoming and outgoing mail and packages. This position ensures timely mail services for faculty, staff, and students, maintains postage and shipping systems, and supports campus mailroom operations while providing excellent customer service.
- Process and prepare all outgoing mail and packages using postal and shipping service systems.
- Apply appropriate postage and maintain accurate shipping records.
- Generate and distribute monthly postage usage reports by department.
- Manage daily shipping carrier closeouts and submit weekly reports to Financial Services.
- Maintain postage meter balances and replenish funds as needed.
- Sort and distribute incoming mail, packages, and interoffice correspondence.
- Coordinate the shipment of express, priority, registered, certified, and personal mail and packages.
- Receive, date-stamp, and notify recipients of package deliveries.
- Maintain mailroom supplies and order inventory as necessary.
- Train designated staff on mailroom procedures to ensure operational coverage during absences.
- Provide support for additional mailroom and administrative duties as assigned.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Sort, organize, and distribute incoming mail to faculty, staff, and students.
- Verify and document package receipt through required recipient signatures.
- Process and forward mail for former students and other authorized recipients.
- Distribute priority, express, and courier-delivered mail and packages.
- Receive, date-stamp, and track incoming packages.
- Notify recipients promptly of package arrivals.
- Ensure compliance with postal, shipping, and university mail handling procedures.
- Maintain an organized, secure, and efficient mailroom environment.
- Assist with mailroom operations and special projects as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to move packages weighing up to 70 lbs.
Budgeted Salary: $18.00/hr
