Sales Consultant & Educator
Location: Select Sewing, 2415 E 65th St, Indianapolis, IN 46220 - In-person onsite
Schedule: Full-time or Part-time, 3 to 5 days per week (schedule flexible based on candidate availability, with most Saturdays required; all shifts at least 6 hours)

Role Overview
We are seeking an enthusiastic team member with a genuine passion for sewing and for the maker community to fill a hybrid role combining retail sales with hands-on customer education. You'll work directly with customers to demonstrate machines and guide them to the right products, while also teaching classes and lessons that help our community grow their skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet customers on the sales floor, demonstrate machines, and guide them toward the right SINGER, Husqvarna VIKING, PFAFF, Baby Lock, or Reliable model for their needs and budget.
- Support the sales process from initial customer inquiry through purchase, including explaining financing, warranty, and the Trade-Up Program.
- Teach new-owner classes, software classes, and specialty sewing/embroidery classes to customers of all skill levels.
- Design and sew sample projects for in-store display, class curriculum, and marketing purposes, such as bags, quilts, garments, and embroidery samples, to showcase machine capabilities and inspire customers.
- Assist with class prep, including cutting kits, gathering supplies, and setting up classroom machines.
- Maintain a working knowledge of current machine features, embroidery software, and notions/accessories to answer customer questions confidently.
- Provide private lessons for customers on an as-needed basis.
- Help maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming studio and sales floor.
What We're Looking For
- Friendly, outgoing personality with genuine enthusiasm for helping customers choose the machine or products right for them.
- A love of sewing and a passion for helping other makers grow their skills and creativity.
- Comfort teaching and explaining sewing techniques to a range of skill levels, from beginners to advanced sewists.
- Prior experience with SINGER, Husqvarna VIKING, PFAFF, Baby Lock, or Reliable machines and embroidery software is a plus, but not required. Training provided.
- Reliable, organized, and able to juggle both sales-floor and classroom responsibilities.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand or move around the store for extended periods.
- Availability for a part-time or full-time schedule of 3 to 5 days per week, with shifts of at least 6 hours each, and most Saturdays required.
Compensation
- Base hourly rate of $14–$22/hour, depending on experience.
- Uncapped commission on sales.
- Team members can earn up to $28–$32/hour when base and commission are combined.

Pay: $14.00 - $22.00 per hour
