Job Overview
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Construction Inspector to oversee and ensure the quality, safety, and compliance of civil infrastructure construction projects. In this vital role, you will inspect ongoing construction activities, interpret technical drawings and schematics, and verify adherence to specifications and drawings and regulatory standards. Your expertise will help maintain high standards of construction quality while supporting the successful delivery of public infrastructure projects. This job opening is for a person who would be available for “as needed” inspection duties in rural Texas locations.
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive site inspections to monitor construction progress, safety protocols, and quality standards on civil infrastructure projects such as dam repairs and rehabilitation, and channel bank stabilization projects.
- Maintain a job diary with daily entries including, equipment used, contractors progress and narrative of location worked, instruction given and received, site visitors and weather conditions.
- Analyze technical drawings, and construction contracts to verify project specifications and ensure accurate implementation
- Perform detailed quality control checks and quality inspections throughout all phases of construction to identify deviations or deficiencies
- Ensure compliance with construction regulations, and safety standards by reviewing OSHA regulations and conducting on-site assessments
- Collect data through measurements, photographs, and detailed reports to document project status and support decision-making processes
- Collaborate with construction engineers to interpret technical documents and resolve issues related to construction site activities
- Support contractors in adhering to project timelines, and contractual obligations by providing clear inspection feedback
Skills
- Proven experience in construction inspection or working on civil infrastructure projects.
- Strong knowledge of earthfill compaction, construction regulatory compliance, and quality control procedures
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and construction plans accurately
- Excellent analysis skills for identifying discrepancies between plans and actual site conditions
- Hands-on experience with construction site inspections, data collection methods, and quality assurance practices
- Familiarity with construction management principles including contracts management and project documentation
- Effective communication skills for coordinating with contractors, engineers, and project stakeholders

Pay: $30.12 - $34.84 per hour
