Experienced Financial Advisor – $100K–$150K Salary | No Prospecting Required
Location: Eau Claire, Wisconsin
Compensation: $100,000–$150,000 base salary, plus additional compensation opportunities
Job Type: Full-time, In person
About the Opportunity
Investment Management Associates is a locally owned financial advisory firm in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. We are a five-person team serving approximately 700 households and managing more than $300 million in client assets through an independent broker-dealer.
We are looking for an experienced financial advisor to join our team and help advise and service our existing clients. No cold calling. No sales quotas. No book of business required.
This is not a junior advisor position, training program, or commission-only sales opportunity. We are looking for an established advisor who can independently lead client relationships, provide sound financial advice, and take meaningful responsibility for an existing group of clients.
Why We’re Hiring
Our practice continues to grow, and we are reaching the point where additional experienced advisory help is necessary for us to continue accepting new clients while maintaining the level of service our existing clients expect. We also have an opportunity to expand into another market and acquire additional business. To pursue that opportunity, our owner and lead advisor needs to free up time currently spent managing a large number of existing client relationships. This position is an important part of the continued growth of our firm. We are not hiring someone to go find clients—we already have the clients and need another experienced advisor to help take great care of them.
What You’ll Do
Your calendar will primarily consist of meetings and conversations with existing clients, not prospecting appointments.
Responsibilities will include:
- Independently leading client review and planning meetings
- Providing investment and financial planning recommendations
- Answering client questions and managing ongoing advisory needs
- Developing and maintaining long-term client relationships
- Taking ownership of an established group of client relationships
- Collaborating with our lead advisor when a second opinion or additional perspective is helpful
- Helping ensure our clients continue to receive responsive, thoughtful advice as the practice grows
We want someone who can stand on their own as an advisor. You will be trusted to make recommendations and manage client relationships independently rather than simply sitting in on another advisor’s meetings. At the same time, you will have another experienced advisor available whenever collaboration is beneficial.
What You Won’t Be Required to Do
- Cold call
- Prospect for new clients
- Meet a sales or production quota
- Bring an existing book of business
- Build your compensation from commissions
The primary purpose of this role is to advise and service existing clients.
If you enjoy developing new relationships or generating additional business, we welcome it and will provide additional compensation for business you help bring to the firm, but it is not a requirement of the position.
Who We’re Looking For
This position is intended for an experienced financial advisor who is already capable of independently working with clients.
Required:
- Series 7 registration
- Financial advisory experience
- Ability to independently lead client meetings
- Strong understanding of investments and financial planning
- Sound judgment and the confidence to make recommendations
- Strong communication and relationship-management skills
Highly Preferred:
- CFP® certification
- Additional financial planning or investment credentials
- Experience managing an established group of client relationships
A CFP® professional would be an especially strong fit for what we are looking to build, although the designation is not required.
Compensation
We anticipate a base salary of approximately $100,000 to $150,000 per year, depending on experience, qualifications, and the level of responsibility assumed.
Additional compensation opportunities will be available for new business or client relationships developed by the advisor.
Why This Role May Be Different
Many financial advisor positions are ultimately sales positions. This one isn't.
This may be a particularly good opportunity for an experienced advisor who enjoys the client relationship, financial planning, and advisory side of the business but would prefer to spend less time prospecting and worrying about production goals.
You will be joining a small, established, locally owned practice where your experience and judgment will matter. You will have meaningful responsibility, independence in how you advise clients, a strong salary, established relationships to work with, and an opportunity to play an important role in the continued growth of the firm.
If you are an experienced advisor who enjoys providing good advice and taking care of clients, we would like to hear from you.
All inquiries and conversations will be kept confidential.
