This is a hands-on position for a motivated professional who thrives on developing new business, building lasting client relationships, and coordinating successful meetings, catering, and convention events.
As a department of one, the Director of Sales will manage the entire sales cycle—from prospecting and lead generation to contracting, event coordination, and post-event follow-up. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working independently, takes ownership of results, and is passionate about hospitality.

Qualifications
- Minimum of 3–5 years of hotel sales experience required.
- Proven success in selling guest rooms, meetings, catering, and convention business.
- Strong knowledge of hotel operations and event planning.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
- Highly organized with exceptional time management abilities.
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and hotel sales/property management software.
- Flexible schedule to accommodate client meetings and occasional evening or weekend events.
Position Summary
The Director of Sales is responsible for increasing hotel revenue by securing new business in corporate, group, catering, banquet, meeting, and convention markets. This individual will oversee all aspects of the hotel's sales function, including business development, client relations, event booking, contract preparation, and coordination with hotel operations to ensure exceptional guest experiences.
Essential ResponsibilitiesSales & Business Development
- Develop and execute strategic sales plans to maximize hotel occupancy and revenue.
- Prospect for new business through sales calls, networking, referrals, and community involvement.
- Maintain and grow relationships with corporate clients, organizations, travel planners, event coordinators, and community partners.
- Conduct hotel tours and presentations for prospective clients.
- Prepare proposals, contracts, and pricing packages.
- Maintain an active sales pipeline and consistently pursue new business opportunities.
- Track sales activity, forecasts, and production goals.
Catering & Convention Services
- Sell and book meetings, conferences, conventions, banquets, weddings, and social events.
- Meet with clients to determine event needs and recommend appropriate meeting space, catering options, and hotel services.
- Prepare Banquet Event Orders (BEOs) and communicate event details to hotel departments.
- Coordinate with the kitchen, banquet team, front desk, housekeeping, and maintenance departments to ensure flawless event execution.
- Follow up with clients before and after events to ensure satisfaction and generate repeat business.
Administration
- Maintain accurate client records, contracts, and sales reports.
- Monitor market trends and competitor activity.
- Assist with annual sales budgeting and forecasting.
- Represent the hotel at community events, networking functions, and trade shows.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the General Manager.
