Responsibilities
- Operate backhoes, excavators, loaders, dozers, graders, water trucks, and dump trucks to perform excavation, grading, utility installation, and site clearing tasks.
- Conduct routine maintenance and safety inspections on all equipment to ensure optimal performance and adherence to safety procedures.
- Assist with construction utility work by locating underground utilities accurately using utility locating equipment before digging or trenching.
- Follow federal construction safety regulations and equipment safety procedures diligently to maintain a safe work environment for all team members.
- Support construction site activities by performing tasks such as site leveling, trenching, backfilling, and paving preparation under supervision.
- Collaborate with project managers and team members to execute construction plans efficiently while maintaining high safety standards.
- Maintain detailed records of equipment usage, maintenance activities, and project progress for accountability and reporting purposes.
Requirements
- Proven experience operating heavy construction machinery including backhoes, excavators (Caterpillar preferred), dozers, loaders, graders, water trucks, dump trucks, and tankers.
- Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to perform basic maintenance on construction equipment.
- Construction site experience with a focus on utility work, excavation, grading, paving or related activities.
- Knowledge of federal construction safety regulations and adherence to safety regulations at all times.
- Valid commercial driver’s license with experience in commercial truck driving preferred; ability to operate various types of construction vehicles safely.
- Ability to interpret construction plans and perform precise excavation and grading tasks according to specifications.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively within a team environment dedicated to safety and quality.
