We are growing our engineering team and are seeking an experienced Plastics Manufacturing Engineer to support our Profile Extrusion / Plastic Lumber Division.
This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer who wants to be more than a desk-based resource. You'll work directly with operations, maintenance, quality, and other teams to optimize extrusion processes, improve manufacturing performance, support new product development, and drive continuous improvement.
What You'll Do
- Optimize and improve plastic extrusion manufacturing processes to increase efficiency, quality, and productivity.
- Provide hands-on engineering support for extrusion equipment, tooling, and processes.
- Lead projects from concept through implementation, including new product development and process improvements.
- Partner with Operations, Quality, Maintenance, and other teams to identify opportunities and implement solutions.
- Evaluate new business opportunities and recommend the best manufacturing approach, balancing cost, quality, capacity, and process capability.
- Troubleshoot complex manufacturing and processing issues using strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Develop and implement process improvements that reduce waste, improve efficiency, and enhance product quality.
- Provide technical guidance, training, and mentorship to manufacturing teams.
- Promote and maintain a strong culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Plastics, Mechanical, Manufacturing/Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
- 3–5+ years of hands-on engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience with plastic extrusion processing and equipment.
- Proven project management experience, particularly with product development and/or process improvement.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to translate engineering concepts into practical manufacturing solutions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A hands-on, self-motivated approach with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
