Defiance College seeks an individual to help maintain our athletic fields, facilities, and event spaces while supporting a positive experience for our student-athletes, coaches, and campus community. Duties will include:
- Assisting with the maintenance, repair, and upkeep of indoor and outdoor athletic facilities.
- Maintaining athletic fields through mowing, lining, landscaping, irrigation, snow removal, and seasonal grounds care.
- Set up and tear down for athletic competitions, campus events, and special activities.
- Operating tractors, mowers, utility vehicles, and other maintenance equipment safely.
- Performing routine inspections and identifying safety and risk management concerns.
- Assisting with the supervision and training of student employees.
- Assisting in ensuring athletic facilities remain safe, clean, attractive, and game-ready.
A high school diploma or equivalent is required for this position. Applicants should have experience in groundskeeping, facilities maintenance, landscaping, or a related field; working knowledge of athletic field maintenance and general building maintenance is preferred. The individual must possess a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record, be able to safely operate maintenance equipment and work outdoors in varying weather conditions, and have the ability to periodically work evenings and weekends as needed. This position requires frequent standing, walking, bending, climbing, lifting, and operating equipment. Candidates must be able to frequently lift up to 50 pounds and occasionally up to 75 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
