Position Overview
Mt. Hope Golf Course, ideally situated on Route 27 halfway between Meadville and Titusville, is seeking a versatile, highly organized Part-Time Cook & Event Planner to design, launch, and manage our food and beverage program. In this unique, dual-responsibility role, you will lead both the kitchen's culinary execution and the logistical event planning for our daily golfers, weekly regional leagues, corporate outings, and events. The ideal candidate transitions seamlessly from behind the grill to coordinating directly with event clients under the guidance of the General Manager, ensuring excellent customer service, high profit margins, and quick turnaround times.
Key Responsibilities
Food Service & Culinary Operations
- Menu Development: Design high-margin, scalable menus tailored to daily golfers (quick grab-and-go counter items), weekly leagues (buffets), and tournament events (buffet banquets).
- Kitchen Management: Execute daily food preparation and cooking while maintaining strict local food safety, sanitation, and health department standards.
- Speed of Service: Optimize kitchen workflows to ensure rapid turnaround times, specifically targeting leagues staring at the dinner hour and golfers making the turn.
- Inventory & Cost Control: Handle food ordering, minimize waste, and manage profitable food cost margins.
Event Planning & Coordination
- Program Implementation: Roll out a structured food service program for the entire golf season.
- Client Relations: Meet with organizers, league captains, and private parties to plan custom menus, pricing, and timelines.
- Run-of-Show Management: Create detailed execution sheets for large-scale golf outings to ensure seamless food delivery from registration breakfast to post-round dinner.
- Staff Coordination: Coordinate with clubhouse staff to ensure premium customer service and efficient delivery on a daily basis and during group outings and events.
Qualifications & Skills
- Experience: 2–3 years of experience in line cooking, kitchen management, catering, or event coordination (preferred).
- Dual Capabilities: Proven ability to balance fast-paced short-order cooking with administrative event scheduling and client communication.
- Geography: Excellent opportunity for candidates living in or commuting between the Meadville and Titusville areas.
- Efficiency: Ability to thrive under pressure when large waves of golfers require food service.
