This position involves the responsibility for the satisfactory operation of all County owned voting machines and ancillary/peripheral equipment in the Wayne County Elections Department. Incumbent will be responsible for setting up, and diagnosing problems associated with the operation of the voting machines. The employee will work under the general supervision of the Election Commissioners. Incumbent does related work as required.
- Test each voting machine four (4) times each year as mandated by the State Board of Elections and keep the required records;

Maintain hardware and peripheral equipment;

Routine maintenance of new voting machines including keeping their batteries charged;

Acceptance testing on new machines when they arrive from the manufacturer;

Train machine custodians how the voting machines work and teach them their job duties;

Teach election inspectors how the voting machines work during regular training sessions;

Set up and prepare voting machines for all elections;

Assist in the shipping and return of the voting machines to and from the polling sites;

Correspond with voting machine manufacturer for needed repair.
Knowledge of the use and operation of computers and technology systems and related peripheral equipment; ability to diagnose, evaluate, and troubleshoot problems with the operation of mechanical, electrical, or computer systems; ability to work well with others.
Either:
a. Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered two year college with an Associate’s Degree in computer science, electrical, mechanical or computer technology or related field and two (2) years of experience in one of those fields; or
b. Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and four (4) years of above listed experience; or
c. An equivalent combination of training and experience.
