Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Registered Nurse specializing in Medical-Surgical care to join our healthcare team. 48 hours per week NIGHT SHIFTS. This vital role involves providing comprehensive nursing care to adult patients across various medical-surgical units, ensuring optimal patient outcomes through expert assessment, intervention, and education. Duties
- Conduct thorough patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and medical history documentation using advanced EMR and EHR systems such as Epic and Cerner.
- Administer medications and injections accurately following HIPAA regulations and aseptic techniques.
- Monitor patients’ conditions closely, managing acute pain and providing appropriate interventions for complex cases.
- Assist with diagnostic evaluations such as laboratory testing, specimen collection, and interpretation of results.
- Support post-operative recovery by performing wound care, suturing, catheterization, and ventilator management.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop individualized care plans aligned with NCQA standards and ICD coding requirements.
- Educate patients and families on treatment plans, medication administration, and health coaching strategies to promote recovery and wellness.
- Maintain meticulous medical documentation of patient care activities, adhering to HIPAA guidelines.
- Participate in discharge planning, case management, and long-term care coordination including hospice & palliative medicine considerations.
- Respond effectively to triage situations in urgent care or emergency room settings, utilizing Level I/II trauma center protocols when necessary.
- Ensure infection control practices are rigorously followed to prevent hospital-acquired infections.
Skills
- Extensive experience with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks.
- Proficiency in IV insertion, IV infusion therapy, phlebotomy, and catheter care.
- Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pharmacology related to acute care, ICU procedures, and trauma medicine.
- Skilled in critical care procedures including ventilator management and ICU-level interventions.
- Familiarity with ICD-9/10 coding for accurate documentation and billing processes.
- Experience working with diverse patient populations including geriatrics, pediatrics (including neonatal ventilator management), individuals with developmental disabilities or dementia care needs.
- Ability to perform complex nursing tasks such as suturing, tube feeding management, ostomy care, gastric lavage, and spinal tap procedures.
- Knowledge of Workers' Compensation law related to occupational health cases.
- Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration within multidisciplinary teams across hospital medicine or outpatient settings.
