In addition, Partner Veterinary has a dedicated Learning and Development Department, to help credentialed technicians achieve your goals, supported by two veterinary technician specialists (VTS) Heather Carter and Christine Weaver . Our Training Department has an impressive track record of helping Technicians achieve advanced certifications such as a VTS, CVPP, and/or CVRP.

What does your day look like at Partner?
The ER/ICU Veterinary Technician collaborates with ER clinicians & criticalists to deliver excellent care to high acuity patients. You will manage patients with life-threatening injuries, acute illnesses, and/or severe medical conditions. Your advanced clinical skills will be utilized to help perform emergency procedures including various centeses, placement of central lines, CPR, intra-osseus catheterization, anesthesia for the critically ill, and managing intubated patients. You will also monitor and treat illness using complex equipment central lines, chest tubes, multiple concurrent continuous infusions, high flow nasal cannula oxygen, and in the future, mechanical ventilation and extra-corporeal blood therapies. Importantly, you will work closely with doctors and the ER staff to develop and implement individualized care plans.
Your ability to assess, stabilize, and treat patients effectively will improve patient outcomes and set the standard for critical care nursing. Your skills will be utilized in the full scope of your ability to practice and are essential to daily success.

Requirements:
- Current veterinary technician license/registration in good standing, or eligible for transfer to Virginia.

Minimum of 1 year of veterinary emergency and/or intensive care (ICU)(CCU) experience or combination.

VTS in ECC preferred
-
Strong knowledge of critical patient monitoring, anesthesia, pain management, and nursing care.

Ability to recognize changes in patient status and communicate concerns promptly to the medical team.

Demonstrated ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment.

Strong attention to detail and commitment to exceptional patient care.
Physical Requirements (ability to):

Ability to quickly process, analyze, and react to unplanned and emergent medical situations without delay, so as to ensure the safety of team members and patients

Ability to stand for up to 12 hours with limited breaks

Able to lift up to 40 lbs. without assistance
