D L English Design is seeking a Project Manager with demonstrable project experience and keen leadership skills to join our team and take the lead in managing the fabrication, and installation of our award-winning built environments.
You will be responsible for the end-to-end management of our projects, from onboarding clients, devising scope, estimating timelines and cost, to leading our internal team in their fulfillment of build and installation.
The ideal candidate will bring a minimum of 5 years of experience managing a pipeline of Retail and Hospitality projects and installations. You are decisive, adaptive, have a great work ethic, solution-oriented mindset and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Core Responsibilities:
- Acting as Project Lead on assigned projects, managing and leading the project from design hand off through fabrication and installation
- Overseeing and guiding all stakeholders in the project (client, construction and fabrication team members, install teams)
- Estimating costs across labor and materials, creating timelines, and working with clients to achieve contract approval. Understanding of material costs and ability to provide value engineering solutions.
- After contract approval, managing the project as it enters our overall projects workflow, scheduling team member activities and materials. Managing and control budgets and costs through project lifecycle.
- Monitor the ongoing progress of the project and build through technical design, fabrication and installation, communicating with all contributors throughout, anticipating and fixing any issues, highlighting and monitoring any areas of risk
- Oversee end-to-end project, ensuring all elements are fulfilled. Reconciling budgets & debriefing all parties at project close-out
Skills and Experience
Mandatory experience within one of the design/build industries listed below:
- Commercial Retail Decor and Signage
- Scenic and Set Construction
- Event Spaces and Trade Shows
- Commercial Custom Millwork
- Museum Display Services
- Proven experience within the design/build industry and specialization in prototypical builds
- Ability to interpret construction drawings / plans and communicate those plans clearly
- Creating, interpreting & communicating a project scope
- Experience in managing a variety of projects in different phases of the construction process
- Technical production design knowledge
- Attention to detail and the ability to respond to changing and competing priorities
- Ability to brief & manage crew, sub-contractors & suppliers
- Self-starter with good judgment and the ability to make decisions quickly
- Excellent oral & written communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft 365 products, Bluebeam, Adobe and Procore productivity software
- AutoCAD, Adobe Illustrator and SketchUp skills preferred
- Bilingual Spanish speaking a plus but not required
This role is based out of our Los Angeles, CA 91331 Office and Workshop: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)
Some travel to site locations to be expected.

Schedule: D L English Design operates on a 9/80 schedule. Overtime may be required on a project basis.

Pay: $95,000.00 - $115,000.00 per year
