The Pump Kill Truck Operator is responsible for safely driving and operating the Pump (Kill) Truck to haul various oil field related fluids to kill and or control the flow of oil and gas wells. These fluids include fresh water, brine (salt) water or various weights, KCL water, various drilling fluids (mud) and packer fluids which are picked up at various locations and transported to various field location to be used in well servicing and drilling operations. At the well location, the Pump Truck Operator will operate the equipment of the truck to "kill" the well, according to procedures established by the customer and the manufacturer of the equipment, to keep the well under control and flowing back to the surface during well service operations.
Responsibilities
- Works with ethics, honesty, values and integrity.
- Provides a position of professionalism to others.
- Maintains all required log books, DVIR and all other DOT requirements on a daily basis.
- Keeps up with hours of service (HOS) to ensure compliance with all applicable laws.
- Completes work tickets for jobs legibly, timely and with full detailed description of daily activity.
- Performs complete pre/post trip inspections.
- Drives the truck to and from the loading station to the customer’s location(s), and disposal sites.
- Loads and unloads various fluids by using hoses connected to the truck.
- Monitors fluids required for the job based on customer needs and other requirements.
- Knows and adheres to DOT rules and regulations and all job-related Company, state and federal requirements.
- Presents a professional manner and work closely with sales people to satisfy customer requirements.
- Maintains regular communication with sales and supervisor in order to report field problems and/or safety hazards.
- Maintains truck and equipment in a safe and operable condition at all times by performing daily and periodic mechanical and safety inspections.
- Maintain driver’s hours of service by using Telogis and/or paper log book reporting.
- Keeps current on safety techniques and take advantage of all opportunities to improve driving and safety skills.
- Recognizes and avoids safety hazards in the work environment.
- Completes all safety and equipment related trainings required on a monthly basis.
- Responsible for answering Company-issued cell phones during on call hours, in accordance with Company and safety policies.
- Any other duty, responsibility or task assigned by supervisor.
- Must have a Class A cdl.
- High School or GED equivalent; some college preferred.
- Must be at least 21 years of age and able to maintain insurability with Company insurance
- Must have at least one (1) year of previous driving experience.
- Must be able to communicate effectively with co-workers, customers, clients and management.
- Requires a strong sense of direction and knowledge of surrounding areas.
- Winch knowledge and repair on rig up truck is a plus.
- All other shop duties besides trucks/trailers in our fleet will be specific to each branch location.
