We are looking for an Activity Assistant to help facilitate, organize and plan activities for our residents. We are looking for an upbeat, energetic person who has experience with activities, event planning, and working with the elderly. As activity assistant, you will be responsible for assisting organizing and directing all activities for all of our senior living homes. You will communicate with each of the building’s managers in your efforts to plan activities and special events that will help enrich the lives of all of our residents. All events and activities will need to be planned a month in advance in order to include the calendar in our monthly newsletter. Communication will play a vital role in developing great working relationships with the managers, caregivers, residents, and the office. Attendance is critical in this position.
Your main directives will be:
1. Help create a fun environment that helps enrich our resident’s lives.
2. Help maintain our resident’s safety and health by coordinating both physical and mental exercises that keep our residents in top physical and mental condition.
3. Through activities, events, socials, etc., you are expected to help create a social, active and healthy environment for our resident to THRIVE in.
4. Do everything possible to make sure EVERY resident feels special and is provided with ample opportunities for their pursuit of happiness.
5. Must be organized.
Job Responsibilities:
· Assist with planning and organizing events that suite our residents in each building
· Co-ordinate with the mangers, residents and caregivers about current and future events
· Create activity calendars for each individual building as each building has unique residents with different likes and dislikes
· Have 1 on 1 meetings every week with different residents in order to create activities that match their likes
· Use 1 on 1’s to write resident features for our newsletter
· Develop and maintain contacts useful for planning and performing special events like plays, concerts, magic shows, etc.
· Help the caregivers with the planned activities and/or co-ordinate with the mangers which caregivers are responsible for said activity.
