Job Summary
Food Service Inc. of Gainesville is seeking dependable and hardworking Food Service Workers / Mess Attendants to support dining facility (DFAC) operations. This position plays a critical role in maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient food service environment while ensuring excellent service to all patrons.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve food on the serving line in a courteous and professional manner
- Maintain cleanliness of dining areas, serving lines, and kitchen spaces
- Perform dishwashing, pot washing, and sanitation duties (scullery operations)
- Clean and sanitize tables, chairs, beverage stations, and high-touch areas
- Restock food, beverages, utensils, and supplies as needed
- Assist cooks and kitchen staff with basic food prep tasks
- Follow all food safety, sanitation, and hygiene standards
- Remove trash and maintain waste disposal areas
- Support opening and closing procedures for the dining facility
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred (not required)
- Previous food service or hospitality experience is a plus
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
- Strong attention to cleanliness and detail
- Reliable transportation and consistent attendance required
- Must be able to pass background check (if required by contract)
Certifications (Preferred but Not Required)
- Food Handler Certification (or ability to obtain upon hire)
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for long periods of time
- Lift and carry up to 40 lbs
- Perform repetitive tasks such as bending, lifting, and cleaning
Work Environment
- Military dining facility (DFAC) or institutional food service setting
- May include early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Fast-paced environment with high meal volume
