Join our small, skilled care team supporting a joyful, young adult woman with visual impairment and complex care needs. She travels by wheelchair, is nonverbal, non-ambulatory, and communicates with sound and contagious laughter. She thrives in a home environment centered on personal growth, well-being, and respectful curative holistic care.
Responsibilities Include:
- Support with daily life skills and personal hygiene (bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting).
- Provide therapeutic and mobility-focused support: range of motion exercises, stretching, guided movement, and therapeutic follow-through.
- Implement sensory integration practices and communication techniques.
- Assist with feeding (oral and g-tube hydration) and support her continued oral-motor development.
- Prepare and puree her meals and assist with safe nutritional practices.
- Support community integration and recreation: walks, swimming, local events, adapted cycling, gardening, music, library visits, and more.
- Accompany to healthcare appointments and assist with continuity of care.
- Maintain a clean and hygienic home environment with awareness of infection prevention.
- Participate in training to ensure best practices in neurodevelopmental progress, curative care, and client-centered skill-building.
- Engage respectfully with the family and follow established boundaries and routines.
This role requires a high level of engagement, reliability, and sensitivity. The client is active and responsive, and the ideal candidate is healthy, flexible, enjoys collaborating with an active, fun, and creative team, ideally for a long-term commitment.
About the Position:
- Part-time: 24-40 hours/week (includes weekend and PM shifts)
- Schedule is shared with experienced LVNs and an RN
- Starting pay: $38 to $43/hour, with opportunity for increase based on experience, availability, and consistent performance
- Benefits include paid sick days and flexible team scheduling.
- Located on the west side of Santa Cruz, near beaches, parks, and other community amenities
Requirements:
- Active LVN license or RN (required)
- Experience with holistic care, sensory needs, diet, and disability support preferred
- Physical ability to perform occasional lifts and transfers (lift system in place for most transitions)
- Excellent holistic hygiene practices and engaged attention
- Live Scan background check and interview required
- Long-term commitment preferred — meet our current team members
