Medora health group is seeking a compassionate, motivated, and experienced Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) licensed in New York to join our growing behavioral health team on a per diem basis. This role focuses on providing high-quality telehealth psychiatric care to patients across New York through comprehensive evaluations, medication management, and individualized treatment planning.
The ideal candidate is confident working independently in a virtual setting, has strong clinical judgment, and is passionate about improving patient outcomes through accessible, evidence-based mental health care. This per diem role offers maximum scheduling flexibility, allowing you to pick up shifts and patient hours that fit your availability.

Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and diagnostic assessments via telehealth
- Diagnose and treat a wide range of psychiatric and behavioral health conditions
- Prescribe and manage psychotropic medications while monitoring patient response and side effects
- Develop individualized treatment plans tailored to patient needs and goals
- Provide ongoing psychiatric medication management and follow-up care
- Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, medications, and treatment options
- Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and interdisciplinary healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care
- Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant documentation within the EMR/EHR system
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations, New York state guidelines, and clinical best practices
- Provide compassionate, patient-centered care in a virtual outpatient setting
Required Qualifications
- Active and unrestricted PMHNP certification
- Active New York state licensure required
- Minimum of 1 year of experience practicing as a PMHNP preferred
- Experience with psychiatric medication management required
- Strong knowledge of psychopharmacology and behavioral health treatment modalities
- Excellent patient assessment, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced telehealth environment
- Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems
- Comfortable providing care through telemedicine platforms
Preferred Qualifications
- Working knowledge of Athenahealth EMR is a big plus
- Experience in outpatient psychiatry or telepsychiatry settings
- Telehealth experience strongly preferred
- Familiarity with collaborative care models and evidence-based psychiatric treatments
