American Traveler is hiring a Step Down RN for a night shift assignment requiring NJ or compact RN licensure and PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown experience.
-
Work in the Step Down (PCU/DOU/IMC) unit of a hospital setting
-
Care for medical-surgical telemetry and stepdown level patients
-
Patient ratio of 1:4
-
Night shift schedule (3x12 hours), 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
-
Floating required to like units within scope of practice
-
Weekend requirement of every other weekend (Friday, Saturday, Sunday)
-
1 holiday coverage required
-
No on-call responsibilities
-
Epic EMR experience required
-
Active NJ or compact RN license required
-
Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
-
Minimum 2 years of experience in specialty required
-
PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown experience required
-
Prior travel nursing experience required
-
Epic charting system experience required
-
Teaching hospital and community hospital experience preferred
-
Skills in IV therapy, central/peripheral line care, and PICC line management
-
Respiratory care skills including BiPAP/CPAP management, ventilator care, and ABG interpretation
-
Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, and telemetry (on-unit and remote)
-
Skills in wound care/wound vac and isolation precautions/PPE
-
Experience with neurological conditions including CVA, TBI, and post-TPA care
-
Valid references and copies of certifications required for consideration

Provide comprehensive stepdown-level nursing care including cardiac monitoring, respiratory support, and management of complex medical conditions
-
Utilize skills across cardiovascular, respiratory, neurological, genitourinary, and gastrointestinal specialties
-
Administer medications including cardiac drips and heparin protocols
-
Participate in rapid response and code team activations as needed
-
Local candidates accepted within a 50-mile radius at a local rate differential
-
Must reside within 50 miles to qualify for local candidate consideration
