Responsibilities
- Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup.
- Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions.
- Assist the dentist during procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency and patient comfort.
- Take and interpret medical imaging such as X-rays, ensuring proper technique and safety protocols are followed.
- Educate patients on oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to promote long-term oral health.
- Maintain accurate and detailed medical records in electronic health record (EHR) systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix, ensuring HIPAA compliance.
- Follow strict infection control protocols using aseptic techniques to prevent cross-contamination and ensure a safe clinical environment.
- Support pediatric dentistry cases by applying specialized knowledge of pediatric dental procedures and patient management.
- Review documentation for accuracy, completeness, and adherence to medical coding standards for billing purposes.
- Keep up-to-date with the latest dental terminology, procedures, and technology to provide informed patient care.
Requirements
- Valid Dental Hygienist license in accordance with state regulations.
- Proven experience working in general dentistry or dental clinics, with familiarity in pediatric dentistry preferred.
- Proficiency in dental office software such as Dentrix for scheduling, documentation review, and record keeping.
- Strong knowledge of anatomy, medical terminology, infection control practices, and aseptic techniques.
- Ability to perform chairside assisting efficiently while maintaining excellent patient rapport.
- Experience with vital signs measurement and medical imaging techniques relevant to dental care.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure confidentiality of patient information at all times.
- Excellent communication skills for educating patients and collaborating with team members.
Pay: $50.00 - $55.00 per hour
