Braden Property Management is seeking a full-time Bookkeeper & Front Desk Assistant to support our Charlottesville-area residential portfolio. This hybrid role combines property-level bookkeeping with front office coverage, giving a detail-oriented, service-minded person a well-rounded role across accounting and operations.
Three days a week are spent supporting the Property Accountant with day-to-day bookkeeping. Two days are dedicated to running the front desk - serving as the first point of contact for clients, residents, vendors, and the internal team, and ensuring office communication and access run smoothly in the absence of the Office Operations Manager.
Schedule
- Full-time, approximately 40 hours per week
- 3 days per week: Bookkeeping (hours flexible between 9AM and 5PM, Monday-Friday)
- 2 days per week: Front Desk Coverage, including Wednesdays
- Schedule will be determined with the supervisor
Bookkeeping Duties (3 days per week)
- Property level bookkeeping: Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable
- Process Tenant charges and credits, including security deposit accounting, repair/damage chargebacks, utility charges, minimum insurance, refund application fees
- Ensure management fees and renewal/leasing fees are calculated properly
- Follow up with tenants in arrears, sending Pay-Or-Quit notices
- Prepare vendor batches for Property Accountant Approval
- Work with property management team to obtain approval on bills
- Prepare and send Monthly Owner Statements & Correspondence
- Document management, storage and coding of bills, insurance records, and 1099s
- Assist Property Accountant with property level bookkeeping
- Other tasks relevant to property management and bookkeeping
- Experience with AppFolio and Quickbooks is a plus. Experience with other property management software will also be helpful
Front Desk Duties (2 days per week)
- Own front desk operations, including greeting visitors and maintaining a professional office environment
- Answer, triage, and route incoming phone calls with speed and accuracy
- Monitor and respond to shared inboxes, ensuring timely and clear communication
- Manage all key handling, including distribution, intake, and tracking
- Provide administrative and operational support to team members as needs arise
- Ensure continuity of office systems and communication flow in the absence of the Office Operations Manager

- Monthly owner statements and bookkeeping tasks are accurate and on schedule
- Tenant charges, credits, and fees are processed correctly and on time
- Phones are answered consistently and routed correctly
- Inbox is maintained at or near zero with timely responses
- Keys are tracked accurately with no loss or confusion
- Visitors and vendors have a professional, seamless experience
- The office runs smoothly with no operational gaps during coverage
Skills
- Basic bookkeeping experience required; real estate-related bookkeeping experience desired
- Strong computer proficiency
- Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Drive)
- Calendar management
- Experience with AppFolio or property management software
- Familiarity with workflow or operational systems
- Organized, detail-oriented, and highly reliable
- Strong communicator with a service-oriented mindset
- Comfortable managing multiple inputs (calls, emails, walk-ins, bookkeeping tasks) simultaneously
- High ownership mentality with the ability to execute without close supervision
- Ability to take direction, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple priorities with efficiency, accuracy and composure
Pay: $21.00 - $23.00 per hour
