Dermatology & Mohs Medical Assistant / Surgical Tech
Lockhart Matter Dermatology, Mohs and Aesthetic Center is growing and looking for friendly, dependable, and patient focused team members to join our busy and growing dermatology and Mohs practice. We are a fast-paced general, busy practice with locations in Plano, Prosper, and McKinney.
We are seeking Medical Assistants or Surgical Techs with at least 2 years of experience in dermatology, Mohs, general surgery, plastic surgery, OB-GYN, cardiology, or a related clinical setting. Full-time, part-time, and PRN positions are available. Part-time and PRN schedules are flexible.
Schedule:
Monday–Thursday, 7:45 AM–5:00 PM
Friday, 7:45 AM–12:00 PM
Must be available to work at any location as needed. Reliable transportation is required.
Responsibilities include:
- Room and prepare patients for exams and procedures
- Obtain and document medical histories, medications, vitals, and patient intake information
- Assist providers during dermatology, Mohs, and surgical procedures
- Scribe and document accurately in ModMed/EMA
- Prepare, label, and collect pathology/lab specimens
- Prepare procedure trays and maintain sterile technique
- Clean, organize, stock exam rooms, and sterilize/autoclave instruments
- Assist with suture removals, wound care, phototherapy, blood draws, and medication/topical applications as directed
- Educate patients on wound care, medications, follow-up instructions, and procedure expectations
- Respond to medically relevant patient phone calls, prescription requests, prior authorizations, and clinical messages as directed by providers
- Support providers and management with additional responsibilities as assigned
Qualifications:
- Medical Assistant or Surgical Tech/1st Assist certification
- Minimum 2 years of relevant clinical experience preferred
- Dermatology, Mohs, surgical, or plastic surgery experience strongly preferred
- Experience with ModMed/EMA is a plus
- Knowledge and experience with medications, biologics and prior auths required
- Knowledge of medical terminology, dermatology terminology, CPT, and ICD-10 preferred
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Professional, punctual, detail-oriented, and dependable
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced clinical environment
- Compassionate and friendly with patients, providers, and coworkers
- Able to prioritize tasks, follow provider instructions, and seek guidance when needed
- Bilingual skills are a plus

Qualifications
- Proficient in medical administrative support and patient care
- Skilled in scribing, assisting, and using ModMed/EMA EHR system
- Experience in dermatology, mohs and plastic surgery settings preferred
- Familiarity with medical terminology and patient intake processes
- Ability to work in a surgical tech role with knowledge of surgery procedures
- Demonstrate excellent communication skills when interacting with patients and staff
- Bilingual proficiency is a plus
