Facilities & Kitchen Assistant (Part-Time, 25 Hours/Week)
Location: Blind Children's Center
Reports To: Operations Manager
Position Summary
The Facilities & Kitchen Assistant helps maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for children, families, and staff. This role supports daily housekeeping, sanitation, kitchen cleanup, meal service support, and facility operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Clean and sanitize classrooms, offices, restrooms, common areas, and other facility spaces.
- Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, disinfect surfaces, and replenish supplies.
- Empty trash and recycling bins.
- Assist with room setup and breakdown for meetings and events.
- Support daily, weekly, and seasonal cleaning projects.
- Assist with kitchen cleanup, including washing dishes, cookware, utensils, and sanitizing food preparation areas.
- Provide support and coverage for housekeeping and kitchen operations, including meal preparation assistance.
- Cross-train to provide cook coverage when needed.
- Report maintenance, safety, and cleanliness concerns.
- Follow all health, safety, sanitation, and CACFP requirements.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications – Please Apply Only If You Meet These Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Fluent in both English and Spanish.
- At least 1 year of housekeeping experience in a commercial, institutional, school, healthcare, or similar setting.
- At least 1 year of food preparation experience or formal food service training.
- Ability to obtain a valid Food Handler Certificate within 3 months of hire.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 30 pounds.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in a school, childcare, early childhood education, or similar environment.

The Blind Children's Center is seeking a bilingual (English/Spanish) Facilities & Kitchen Assistant to support housekeeping and kitchen operations. This role offers benefits and is ideal for candidates with at least one year of housekeeping experience and one year of food preparation experience. Pay: $25.24 - $30.40 per hour
