The Department of Engineering Science and Technology is pleased to invite OSHA certified instructors to apply to teach our "General Industry" Outreaching Training course. Instructors will teach a seven-week course that will meet once weekly for 110 minutes. Students successfully completing this course will be eligible for an OSHA-10 General Industry Safety and Health card.
The successful candidate will:
Prepare and present lectures and course materials that comply with course outlines and outcomes;
Meet with students as needed to answer questions;
Respond to student queries (e.g. email or voice mail) as needed, in a reasonably timely manner;
Write, administer, and grade all student assignments and exams;
Compute grades and submit them on time.
Teach courses in accordance with the schedule of classes and follow the approved course descriptions and syllabi established by the department faculty
Job Requirements:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
OSHA Instructor Certification for 10-hour General Industry Training and
High school diploma and a minimum of five years' work experience in a technology field such as electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, pneumatics, robotics, soldering and electronic assembly, electrical test & measurement, mechanical assembly techniques, motors & controllers, sensors & machine vision, and industrial control systems.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Background in teaching college level courses;
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite of products (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint);
Demonstrated connections with local industry;
Bilingual in English and Spanish. English and another language will be considered.
Additional Information:
Adjunct rate of pay for the 26/27 academic year is $1,527/credit hour. Classes will be assigned on an as needed basis dependent upon enrollment.
Adjuncts are eligible to participate in the NYS Teacher's Retirement System.
